Abstract
The article is concerned with different degrees of morphological motivation of linguistic signs. To the two types of motivation that are usually defined as complete and partial two more characteristics- autosemantic and synsemantic depending on the semantic character of the constituent morphemes are added. They are further represented as complete autosemantic or complete synsemantic, partial autosematic or partial synsemantic. Motivations of this kind are derived from the linear structure of the sign itself versus paradigmatically-determined motivation of the sign which is centered outside it - within the lexical system at large.
