Abstract
The present paper contains the comparative analysis of the Book of Proverbs represented in two Russian translations - Synodal and Modern. The parable about wisdom and stupidity was chosen as a material of the research (that is one of few fragments of the part of the Scripture which has complete composition). In the comparative analysis of the two texts divergences of different types were found. These divergences can be classified as lexical, syntactic and connotative. In some cases the explanation of the translators’ choice can be found with the help of analysis of earlier texts - Vulgate and Bible of Elisabeth in the Church Slavonic language.
