THE CHANGES IN TRADITIONS OF TRANSLATION OF BIBLICAL TEXTS IN GREAT BRITAIN, GERMANY AND RUSSIA: THEIR SIMILARITIES AND DISSIMILARITIES IN DIFFERENT HISTORICАL PERIODS
Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the history of English, Russian and German biblical translations and to comparing their similarities and differences. Changes of the language and style of biblical narration in later biblical translations are described. The analysis has shown that the tendencies in translations are similar in the three languages: modern translations are characterized by simplification of syntactic constructions and style. There is a marked tendency to choose the same source of translation - the Vulgate. Differences in translation are explained by the use of different sources - ancient Jewish of Greek texts and by the fact that the translations were done in different periods.
