Some modal verbs in enantiosemy syntax constructions in German

Abstract

Aim. To identify some models of enantiosemic syntactic constructions with modal verbs in the German language.

Methodology. The main content of the research is the analysis of enantiosemic syntactic constructions with modal verbs sollen and können. During the research, a descriptive method was used, based on observation and comparison, methods of the component analysis of structure and semantics of a sentence.

Results. In the course of the study, some syntactic models of sentences with enantiosemic meaning and conditions were revealed that contribute to the formation of their opposite meaning.

Research implications. The article summarizes new material on the topic under study, some schemes of enantiosemic syntactic structures with modal verbs are introduced into the academic use. The results of the research can find practical application in studying the issues of semantics, syntax and stylistics of the German language.
