Speleoworld in the mirror of language: analysis of russian and chinese speleonyms

Abstract

Aim. Analysis of linguistic and linguacultural features of Russian and Chinese names of caves.
Methodology. The following methods are used in this work: descriptive method; content analysis method used to systematize the names of caves; comparative method; quantitative-statistical methodology, cognitive analysis, which helps to identify cultural meanings embedded in language units, as well as to understand how culture influences language use and vice versa; cultural-historical analysis.
Results. Comparative linguistic analysis of speleonyms in terms of their structure and semantics has been carried out; linguacultural specificity has been revealed.
Research implications. The article compares Russian and Chinese names of caves, which contain information about the history, culture of the people and natural features of the two countries, which may be interesting for compiling tourist and speleological routes, as well as the results can be used in educational programs in linguistics, cultural studies and geography to study the relationship between language and culture
