https://doi.org/10.18384/2949-5075-2024-3-81-91

Abstract

Aim. To classify Russian relational adjectives on the basis of differentiating features related to substances, actions, quantities, etc. and to select their equivalents in Persian language. This classification greatly facilitates and systematizes the study of grammatical category of relational adjectives by Iranian students who are learning Russian as a foreign language.
Methodology. In order to achieve the aim of the study, we applied the continuous sampling method, descriptive-comparative method and pedagogical modeling method. The research material was a set of 88 relational adjectives from the bilingual Russian-Persian dictionary by G. A. Voskanyan as well as personal supervision of the oral and written translation performed by students studying Russian as a foreign language in an Iranian classroom during practical classes.
Results. The conducted analysis has shown that relative adjectives in Russian language are mostly expressed by relational adjectives with suffix "ی "in Persian. As a result of modeling the ways of expressing Russian relational adjectives in the Persian language, the material of studying this category of adjectives by Iranian students has been systematized and classified.
Research implications. The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that its materials can be used by Iranian students when studying Russian relational adjectives, and for conducting special courses and seminars on the problems of teaching Iranian students the correct interpretation of Russian relational adjectives while translating into Persian.
