POLITENESS STRATEGIES IN DISCOURSE OF ARTIFICIAL BILINGUALS

Abstract
Aim. The article deals with the analysis of the politeness strategies used in speech behaviour of Russian learners of English. Methodology. A linguistic experiment on the basis of written discourse completion test was carried out. Results. The experiment revealed a great variety of politeness strategies in speech behavior of Russian learners of English. These strategies are reflected in supportive move strategies of the speech act of request. The reference to the free associative experiment on the word-stimulus “request” defined the correlation between the used politeness strategies and the understanding of the notion “request” in Russian culture. Research implications. The methodology presented in the article allows to arrange a complex analysis of politeness strategies of Russian learners of English.
