CORPUS TECHNOLOGIES IN LEXICOGRAPHY (WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO OIL REFINING TERMINOLOGY)

Abstract
Aim. The purpose of the article is to determine the role of corpus technologies in the lexicographic development of the English oil refining terminology. Methodology. The objectives are to conduct the linguistic analysis of the oil refining corpus, created on the Sketch Engine platform. The author focuses on the Sketch Engine functions analyzed in terms of LSP dictionary compilation. Special attention is given to the data processing, storage and term description tools. Results. The analysis showed that the functions of the Sketch Engine system studied in the article can significantly optimize the work of a lexicographer when compiling a terminological dictionary and other reference resources. Research implications. In conclusion, proposals for the further implementation of corpus research methods in the lexicographic development of oil refining terms are formulated.
