Functional and semantic characteristics of the French interjection in comparison with other parts of speech

Abstract

Aim. The purpose of the article is to identify the features of the grammatical nature and functionality of French interjections and their comparative characteristics with other parts of speech.

Methodology. The main methods of research are observation, comparison, description, substitution techniques, contextual analysis. The theoretical positions are illustrated by examples from the literary works of classical and modern authors.

Results. The article reveals the distinctive characteristics and the structural and semantic classification of French interjections in comparison with functional parts of speech. In the conclusion of the article the results of the study of the functional and semantic features of interjections in the sentence and in the text are summarized.

Research implications. The problematic nature of the issues and the unresolved questions determine the relevance of the study, while the consideration of the functioning of interjections in speech indicates a new approach and its significance for discourse study as a modern branch of linguistics development.
