Abstract
The aim of the study is to identify the peculiarities of the use of structural-semantic means in the headlines of French articles of various genres to determine the ways of expressing the main intentions of the authors.
Methodology. The basic content of the study is the analysis of a considerable volume of headlines of articles from leading French publications for 2023-2024, collected through the method of continuous sampling. The methodology was based on the methods of linguistic observation and description, contextual and communicative-pragmatic analysis.
Results. The study identified the main syntactic and semantic tools of the French language used by authors of articles of different genres when creating headlines. It was shown that the use of specific morphological-syntactic models and lexical elements in the headline is conditioned by the genre and stylistic affiliation of the article, in addition to the totality of linguistic and external factors.
Research implications. The results of the study can be used in the process of teaching French when studying newspaper articles, in special courses on the language of the press at the senior stage of bachelor's, specialist and master's degree
