Abstract
Aim. To consider the terminological neologisms of the military sphere, to identify the structural and semantic features of military terminology and to reveal the features of terminological neologisms in military texts.
Methodology. The work mainly uses a descriptive method, which is a system for collecting factual material and its description based on observation. Structural-semantic analysis was applied for classification of French military lexis.
Results. The terminological neologisms that have arisen in the military vocabulary are analyzed. It is concluded that the transformation of the semantic structure of the word includes qualitative changes in the vocabulary of the modern military French language. The distinctive properties and features of the terms are revealed that are reflected in the military vocabulary. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the terminological neologisms of the military sphere of the modern French language are reviewed systematically as a complex and varied in ways of word formation category.
Research implications. The theoretical significance of the study lies in identifying the features of the terminological neologisms of the military sphere, which complements the theoretical knowledge of French linguistics. The practical significance lies in the possibility of using the results of the study in the practice of teaching in specialized higher military educational institutions, in the preparation of military training manuals.
