Abstract

The paper treats consequence indication as the main meaning of subordinate clauses introduced by conjunctions de manière que, de façon que, de(en) sorte que. An additional indication of purpose may accompany the main meaning, which is caused by different context factors: the use of the subjunctive mood, verbs in negative, the broader context, the position of the subordinate clause in the sentence.
