Investigation of anglophones perception of communicative behaviour by Russian airline staff

Abstract

This article focuses on the way English
speakers interpret communicative behaviour by
both ground staff and in-flight staff of two Moscow
international airports and two major Russian airlines.
The research has shown that most Russians in this
field are considered by Anglophones to be impolite
and discourteous. This may be due to national cultural
differences and specific approaches to individualism,
power distance and uncertainty avoidance.
