Antonomasia as the means of language nomination

Abstract

The phenomenon of antonomasia,
based on the secondary naming unit, is considered in
the present article. The author regards antonomasia
not only as stylistic device, but in the consideration
of all linguistic functions in the process of communication.
A special prominent is given to the functional
peculiarities and pragmatic values of antonomasia as
a linguistic phenomenon, actualized in the sphere of
press. The given examples prove the authors hypotheses.
New classes and subclasses of antonomasia are
also distinguished. New criteria for classification are
proposed in the article.
