В статье рассматриваются некоторые аспекты понимания русскими и британскими читателями слов-реалий в цикле рассказов о Шерлоке Холмсе реципиентами. На основе экспериментального исследования выявляются сходства и различия в фоновых знаниях русских и британцев. Отмечается, что в ряде случаев можно говорить о различной «глубине восприятия» отдельных лексем читателями, что должно учитываться при осуществлении межкультурной коммуникации, в частности при переводе тех или иных текстов, прежде всего 一 текстов художественной литературы.
The article deals with some aspects of understanding words-realia in Sherlock Holmes stories by Russian and British readers. As the result of an experiment, similarities and differences in the background knowledge of these readers are revealed.丨t,s also stated that in some cases we can speak about different “depth” in understanding of certain lexis by readers, and this fact should be taken into consideration in the process of intercultural communication, in particular while translating various texts, especially literary fiction.
