<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The paper describes the study of cognitive metaphors. An attempt to formulate the precise criteria of this figurative device implementation is undertaken. The author considers the various ways of adequate transfer of metaphors from the source language into translation language on the basis of cognitive links between the basic language elements in the framework of cognitive linguistics. Thus, the cognitive metaphor is considered as an integral part of human cogitative activity possessing at the same time language sign characteristics, which are realized when figurativeness is implemented in the text.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>концептуальность</kwd><kwd>когнитивные метафоры</kwd><kwd>стёртые метафоры</kwd><kwd>образно-переносные эквиваленты</kwd><kwd>концептуальные смыслы</kwd><kwd>conceptuality</kwd><kwd>cognitive metaphors</kwd><kwd>trite/faded metaphors</kwd><kwd>figurative-transferred equivalents</kwd><kwd>conceptual meanings</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Минский М.
