Работа посвящена одному из аспектов грамматики присоединённого вопроса английского языка - его положению в предложении. Ранее было показано, что в современной речи для присоединённого вопроса характерна подвижность, вклинивание в основную конструкцию - опорное предложение. В работе исследуется положение присоединённого вопроса в предложении в различные исторические периоды, начиная с начала новоанглийского периода (примерно 1500 г.) и заканчивая 1880-ми годами. Анализируются особенности, касающиеся положения присоединённых вопросов в литературных произведениях различных эпох.

The article is devoted to one of the aspects of tag-question grammar - its position in a sentence. As it has been shown, in modern English the tag-question is characterized by shifting position. Although most frequently it occurs at the end of the structure, it is very often placed in the middle of the sentence after the part of the sentence it is connected with. In the article some peculiarities of tag-questions position in various periods are discussed. Sentences containing tag-questions from works of British writers of the period from 1500 till 1880 are analysed.
