В статье рассматриваются основные тенденции и новые направления в английской национальной лексикографии (профессиональная, волонтёрская, коммерческая, партнёрская лексикография; рецензирование словарей; изучение перспективы пользователя), сложившиеся в последние годы в теории и практике составления словарей английского языка для общих и специальных целей нового поколения. Особое внимание уделяется описанию английских лингвистических и энциклопедических электронных словарей в эпоху Интернета в связи с развитием новых информационных технологий и изменением профиля современного пользователя, а также изучением его требований и нужд при выборе словаря для конкретных исследовательских целей посредством социологического опроса через анкетирование и окулографию.

The paper presents the description of modern trends and new directions in English national lexicography (professional, volunteer, commercial and collaborative lexicography; dictionary reviewing; user’s perspective research) which were formed in recent years in lexicographic theory and practice with special reference to new generation of English dictionaries for general and special purposes. Special attention is given to the description of English linguistic and encyclopedic electronic dictionaries in connection with intensive development of new information technologies and changing of modern user’s profile as well as studying user’s needs and demands for concrete tasks through sociology of a dictionary user research, questionnaires and eye tracking.
