<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Aim. The research studies the morphological and semantic aspects of culturally marked collocations in British English exemplified by economic discourse within the framework of combinatorial lexicology, which studies the combinatorial and syntagmatic aspects of lexical units and their influence on the semantics of a word. Methodology. The article uses methods of discourse analysis, the descriptive method with its main components (observation, interpretation and generalization), elements of component analysis of lexical units, morphological and semantic analysis of text fragments. Particular attention is paid to the study of the influence of the type of collocation on the semantic property of the word. Using the material from the The Economist journal, the article provides empirical data on the frequency of use of collocations of different types by morphological affiliation of the leading component. Results. As research results indicate, verbal (45%), adjectival (32%) and substantive (23%) collocations are dominant in British economic discourse. The analysis of collocations according to the morphological affiliation of the main word within the framework of combinatorial lexicology demonstrated how the choice of any given part of speech for metaphorical transfer affects the implementation of the semantic meaning of collocations. Research implications. The theoretical and practical significance of the research is that it contributes to the field of studying the influence of parts of speech on the semantic characteristics of collocations whereas morphological and semantic analysis of collocations can be used in collocation dictionaries, as well as in teaching English to students.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>коллокации</kwd><kwd>морфология</kwd><kwd>семантика</kwd><kwd>британский национальный вариант</kwd><kwd>экономический дискурс</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>collocations</kwd><kwd>morphology</kwd><kwd>semantics</kwd><kwd>British national variety</kwd><kwd>economic discourse</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Арутюнова Н.
