Цель исследования состоит в том, чтобы проанализировать лингвистические взгляды Чарлза Дарвина в свете натуралистической концепции языка. Процедура и методы. Ведущие методы исследования - описательно-аналитический и сравнительно-сопоставительный. Результаты. В статье рассмотрены следующие вопросы с точки зрения лингвистического натурализма: главное отличие человека от животного, связь языка и мышления, естественный отбор и борьба за выживание лингвистических элементов, генеалогическая классификация языков, сопоставление развития языков с эволюцией человека. Доказано взаимовлияние идей дарвинизма на лингвистический натурализм и трудов лингвистов-натуралистов на эволюционную теорию Чарлза Дарвина. Теоретическая значимость исследования состоит в пополнении системы знаний о лингвистических взглядах Чарлза Дарвина.

Aim. To analyse linguistic views of Charles Darwin in the aspect of naturalistic concept of language. Methodology. The main methods of the research are: descriptive analytical, comparative methods. Results. The article touches upon the following issues from the point of view of linguistic naturalism: difference between human and animal, thought-language correlation, natural selection and struggle for life of linguistic elements, genealogical classification of languages, comparison of language evolution with human growth. Mutual influence of Darwinism on linguistic naturalism and vice versa are proved. Research implications. The research results contribute to the theory of linguistic views of Charles Darwin.
