Цель. Выявить и сравнить словообразовательные возможности английского суффикса -ing в немецком и русском языках.

Процедура и методы

Процедура и методы. Ключевым методом исследования стал сопоставительный метод, при помощи которого установлены особенности функционирования существительных с суффиксом -ing / -инг в немецком и русском языках. В ходе исследования описаны словообразовательные отношения, отражающие семантическую сочетаемость суффикса -ing / -инг с производящей основой в словообразовательных моделях немецкого и русского языков.

Результаты

Результаты. Проведённый анализ показал различия в уровне адаптации суффикса -ing / -инг к словообразовательной системе немецкого и русского языков. Спецификой суффикса -инг в русском языке является его способность к деривации с существительными, не выражающими процессуальную семантику; эту функцию берёт на себя суффикс.

Теоретическая значимость

Теоретическая значимость. Исследование углубляет представления о словообразовательных отношениях в языке, в частности о процессе словообразовательной ассимиляции заимствованных аффиксов к системе другого языка.

Aim

Aim. To identify and compare the word-formation capabilities of the English suffix -ing in German and Russian.

Methodology

Methodology. The key method of the study was the comparative method, which was used to establish the features of the functioning of nouns with the suffix -ing in German and Russian. The study describes word-formation relations that reflect the semantic compatibility of the suffix -ing with the productive base in word-formation models of the German and Russian languages.

Results

Results. The analysis showed differences in the level of adaptation of the suffix -ing to the word-formation system of the German and Russian languages. The specificity of the suffix -ing in the Russian language is its ability to be derivated with nouns that do not express procedural semantics; this function is assumed by the suffix.

Research implications

Research implications. The study deepens the understanding of word-formation relations in the language, in particular, the process of word-formation assimilation of borrowed affixes to the system of another language.
