Цель. Исследовать механизмы формирования и особенности функционирования терминовэпонимов в названиях измерительных приборов, а также проанализировать их роль в профессиональной коммуникации и научно-техническом дискурсе.
Процедуры и методы. Методом сплошной выборки из международного электротехнического словаря были отобраны термины, являющиеся наименованиями приборов, в составе которых содержится имя собственное. В ходе исследования были использованы сравнительно-сопоставительный метод, лексикографический и этимологический анализ.
Результаты. В результате исследования были выявлены основные модели образования терминов-эпонимов в названиях измерительных приборов, была доказана их высокая степень терминологизации, установлена устойчивая связь между эпонимической частью термина и измеряемой величиной, подтверждающая важность данной терминологии для стандартизации профессиональной коммуникации.
Теоретическая и/или практическая значимость. Результаты исследования имеют практическую ценность для терминоведения, лексикографии и теории перевода, а также подчёркивают необходимость создания специализированных словарей терминов-эпонимов.
Aim is to investigate the mechanisms of formation and peculiarities of functioning of term-eponyms in the names of measuring instruments, and to analyse their role in professional communication and scientific and technical discourse.
Methodology. Using a continuous sampling method from the international electrical engineering dictionary, terms were selected that are the names of devices that contain a proper name. In the course of the research, the following methods were used: comparative method, lexicographic and etymological analysis.
Results. The study identified the main models of formation of eponymic terms in the names of measuring instruments were identified, their high degree of terminology was proved, a stable connection between the eponymic part of the term and the measured value was established, confirming the importance of this terminology for the standardisation of professional communication.
Research implications. The results of the study have practical value for terminology, lexicography and translation theory, and highlight the need to create specialised dictionaries of term-eponyms.
