<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Aim. The article presents the analysis of correlation and related issues in the study of linguistic typology. Methodology. The concept, classification of correlations and three types of related problems are presented. The analysis of related problems involves the Galton problem, language contact, and standard deviation. Results. Correlations in linguistic typology are inevitable problems in the process of language sample selection, the analysis of the language changes and determining causality. It should be noted that determining correlations between different elements is not limited to language sampling or statistical methods, but it depends more on the theoretical basis, theoretical justification and researchers’ level of solving problems. Research implications. Theoretical and practical relevance of this research involves the theoretical development of language universals and in the possibility of using the results of research in the analysis of linguistic phenomena.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>корреляция</kwd><kwd>лингвистическая типология</kwd><kwd>проблема Гальтона</kwd><kwd>языковой контакт</kwd><kwd>проблема стандартного отклонения</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>correlation</kwd><kwd>language selection</kwd><kwd>linguistic typology</kwd><kwd>Galton's problem</kwd><kwd>language contact</kwd><kwd>standard deviation problem</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Гринберг Дж.
