Цель. Выявление и описание метафорической модели «ИНВЕСТИЦИОННОЫЙ ФЕНОМЕН – ЭТО ЯВЛЕНИЕ ПРИРОДЫ» в англоязычном инвестиционном дискурсе, определение функций исследуемых метафор как мощного когнитивного инструмента представления и создания знаний.

Процедура и методы

Процедура и методы. В ходе исследования применялись фреймово-слотовый анализ метафорической модели, компонентный и дефиниционный виды анализа лексических единиц для построения исследуемой метафорической модели.

Результаты

Результаты. В результате исследования эмпирического материала выявлена и описана фреймово-слотовая структура исследуемой модели, включающая фреймы «Космические явления», «Воздушные явления» и «Земля / Ландшафт», «Водные явления» и «Стихийные бедствия». Показана категоризующая и прагматическая функция исследуемой метафоры.

Теоретическая значимость настоящей работы заключается в пополнении системы знаний о функционировании метафоры в научном дискурсе. Практическая значимость исследования состоит в возможности использования его результатов в курсах по общему языкознанию, стилистике, лексикологии, когнитивной лингвистике.

Aim

Aim. Identification and description of the metaphorical model “INVESTMENT PHENOMENON IS A NATURAL PHENOMENON” in the English investment discourse, defining the functions of the studied metaphors as a powerful cognitive tool for representing and creating knowledge.

Methodology

Methodology. In the course of the study, a frame-slot analysis of a metaphorical model, component and definitional types of analysis of lexical units were used to build the studied metaphorical model.

Results

Results. As a result of the study of empirical material, the frame-slot structure of the model under study was identified and described, including the frames “Space phenomena”, “Air phenomena”, “Earth / Landscape”, “Water phenomena” and “Natural disasters”. The categorizing and pragmatic function of the studied metaphor is shown.

Research implications

Research implications. The theoretical significance of this research lies in replenishing the system of knowledge about the functioning of metaphor in scientific discourse. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of using its results in courses in general linguistics, stylistics, lexicology, and cognitive linguistics.
