Статья посвящена анализу такого мощного направления в искусстве конца XIX - начала XX вв., как православное направление в живописи. На примере творчества знаменитых русских художников В.М Васнецова, Н.Н. Ге, А. Иванова, М.В. Нестерова, К.Ф. Юона и др. автор демонстрирует неразрывную связь реалистической живописи данного периода с культурой России, со становлением идеала высокой христианской духовности. Сюжет в творчестве этих художников глубоко символичен и во многом определяет становление идеала высокой христианской духовной силы и опыта.
This article analyzes one of the most powerful trends in the late 19th- early 20th century art, i.e. Orthodox theme in painting. The author demonstrates the inextricable link between realistic painting of the period with the Russian culture and the formation of the ideal of high orthodox spirituality. Works of famous Russian artists V. Vasnetsov, N. Ge., A. Ivanov, M. Nesterova, K. Juon, etc. are the examples. The themes these artists developed in their pictures are deeply symbolic and to the great extend determine the formation of the ideal of high orthodox spiritual strength and experience
